EV Charabunc: A Vision for Electric Mobility with SRM Shineray X30LEV

In January 2023, I embarked on an exciting project to design and develop an electric minivan in collaboration with the Shineray Group’s NEV brand, SRM Shineray. The result was the SRM Shineray X30LEV, which we rebranded as the EVONUES Charabunc. This electric variant of the Jinbei Haise X30L, rebadged under the SRM Shineray brand, featured custom branding emblems for EVONUES as part of an ODM request.

This project was particularly meaningful because the Charabunc was designed with custom vinyls for Updated Knowledge Academy, a newly opened school in Banasree, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Integrating the school’s identity into the vehicle design made this project a unique blend of innovation and purpose.

The EVONUES Charabunc features a 49.1kWh battery, offering an electric range of 305 km, making it an efficient option for urban transport. Additionally, the SRM Shineray Haoyun No.1, the electric panel van variant of the X30LEV, boasts a similar battery capacity with an electric range of 285 km. These specs highlight the potential of these vehicles to become key players in the electric vehicle market, providing both practicality and sustainability.

The goal was to obtain approval from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to import these vehicles in SKD (Semi Knock Down) setup, aiming to bring cutting-edge electric mobility to Bangladesh. Unfortunately, at the time, the local market wasn’t ready for such advanced electric vehicle solutions, and permission was not granted. Despite this setback, the EVONUES Charabunc remains a significant milestone in my journey, showcasing my commitment to designing sustainable, electric vehicles that align with the future of transportation.

This project stands as a testament to the potential of electric vehicles in Bangladesh, and though the timing wasn’t right, it’s a step toward a greener future.
